Figure 8 cable comprises of 2 individually insulated cables joined by a small segment of the outer sheath. It is called figure 8 because of its cross sectional appearance. The cables can be easily separated where required. Typically one core has a coloured tracer painted along its length to aid identification and polarisation. Figure 8 cable has a wide range of applications including audio, security and mains.
